Hoa Aina O Makaha
Hoa Aina O Makaha (HAOM) is a 5-acre community farm and learning center that provides aina-based education to students in West Oahu and island-wide on Oahu. HAOM’s place-based education programs provide hands-on experiences at the farm that teach participants how to grow and prepare healthy foods, make healthy life choices, connect with their roots in Hawaiian culture, and gain a deeper sense of the relationship between individual, community, and the environment. HAOM’s mission is “Creating peaceful communities in harmony with nature through the eyes, hands, and hearts of the children.” This mission speaks to both why HAOM exists (to create peaceful communities) and how HAOM approaches its work (in harmony with nature through the eyes, hands and hearts of the children).
