Sponsors volunteer constituent councils for organ donors and transplant patients, including the TransAction Council, the Hawaii Organ Donor Family Council. Sponsors the Transplant Games, an Olympic-Style competition for transplant recipients. Supports training opportunities for health care professionals. Educates the public about problems of progressive kidney disease and possible means of prevention. Conducts free patient/family workshops called "Kidney Options Patient Empowerment." Publishes free dialysis cookbooks and kidney patient handbooks. Offers free educational CD roms for children, along with a school outreach program featuring "Sidney the Kidney." Conducts free statewide kidney screenings, provides disease self-management programs, nutritional counseling, cooking deomonstrations and funds research initiatives for a cure.
