Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

(Hawaii Island Health and Wellness Center - Keaau) • Treatment of Adults • Adolescents and Children (Kea`au) • Individual Therapy • Group, Couple’s and Family Therapy (Kea`au) • Management of: anxiety, depression, stress, weight, grief & loss, chronic illness, chronic pain, etc. • Assistance with: life changes, interpersonal relationships, parenting, substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management, smoking cessation, trauma, coping with disasters, etc.

Provides care coordination and contracts out to Department of Health awarded private providers, community-based, child-focused and family-centered comprehensive behavioral health care. Serves children, adolescents and their families who may suffer from a variety of emotional, behavioral or social adjustment problems. Provides evaluation, treatment planning, direct treatment and case management through contract providers. Provides consultation to Department of Education personnel and private agencies.

Offers outpatient services for adults and adolescents with mental health diagnosis. Includes psychological assessment, psychiatric evaluation, medication monitoring, case management, intensive in-school services, family and individual psychotherapy services.
