The Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) provides food to the needy on the island making food and products available to agency partner distributions sites. KIFB serves homeless, elderly, children and those experiencing temporary emergencies. KIFB also has a vocational rehabilitation program, operates Keiki Cafe and a Backpack Program as well as provides nutrition education assistance. Makes referrals for food to the public (individuals needing food). Referrals are made to the 50 distribution sites throughout Kauai and specifically non-profit member agencies and churches on Kauai.

***DOES NOT OFFER DIRECT DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD TO THE PUBLIC*** The Foodbank collects food donations from food industry and community donors year round. Donated and purchased food is distributed to member agencies including: food pantries, feeding programs, shelters, rehabilitation centers and soup kitchens. The Hawaii Foodbank network of member agencies help feed the needy including: children at risk of hunger elderly, low-income individuals and families, homeless, people recovering from substance or domestic abuse, disabled and unemployed. Membership applications are open to all publicly supported 501(c)3 designated organizations. For agency membership contact the Food Partner Network Coordinator at (808) 836-3600 ext. 234. Recruits volunteers for: food sort, clerical work, craft projects and cleaning. Volunteers are also needed for annual fundraising programs: Check-Out Hunger, Hawaii Foodbank Annual Golf Classic, Great Chefs Fight Hunger, Annual Food Drive Day, National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive and the Honolulu City Lights Trolley Tours at Ward Center. (Commodity Supplemental Food Program, CSFP) Kupuna Pantry works to improve the health of low-income elderly persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods. Food packages include a variety of foods, such as nonfat dry and ultra high-temperature fluid milk, juice, farina cream of wheat, oats, bran cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned protein meat, poultry, or fish, and canned fruits and vegetables.

Due to the Wildfire August 2023, please refer to the food donation collection and food distribution list on the Maui Food Bank's website. Gives referrals to the 501(c)(3) social and human service agencies they work with serving the needy, such as churches, preschools, food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters where people can get food.
